Questions we are often asked
On how an enquiry works, on quotations and invoicing, and on the individual services. If your question is not listed, give us a call — that is usually quicker than any list.
General
Which area do you cover?
We work in Berlin and Brandenburg. Our business is based at Bergholzstr. 4 in 12099 Berlin-Tempelhof.
When can I reach you?
Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 16:00 — by phone on 030 / 26554398 or by email to info@elux-gmbh.de. Enquiries sent through the contact form reach us at any time.
Are you a member of a guild?
Yes. ELUX GmbH is a member of the Elektro-Innung Berlin (the Berlin electricians' guild). Our staff are kept up to date with the current state of the art through regular seminars.
Do you work for private households and for businesses?
Both. We carry out electrical installations in residential and commercial buildings — from a single flat to an entire office floor.
How long does the warranty last?
Consumers have the statutory warranty rights. For business customers the period is twelve months from acceptance or delivery. The governing provision is § 12 of our terms and conditions, the AGB.
Process & appointments
How does an enquiry with you work?
In five steps: you describe your project to us, we look at the conditions on site, you receive a written quotation, we carry out the work, and at the end comes the joint acceptance — with documentation and a measurement report on request.
When does an appointment become binding?
Delivery and completion dates are binding once they have been expressly agreed in writing as binding (§ 6 of our terms and conditions, the AGB). The contract itself is concluded by written order confirmation, by the start of the work or by delivery.
What do I need to prepare before the appointment?
The work areas should be freely accessible and ready for work at the agreed time. Unless otherwise agreed, you provide any required permits, third-party consents, and electricity and water. If we cannot work for these reasons, we may charge separately for travel and waiting time (§ 7 of our terms and conditions, the AGB).
How is the finished work accepted?
You accept the work once it is completed. The work is also deemed accepted if you put the installation into use, if you do not carry out the acceptance within twelve working days despite being asked to, or if there are no significant defects (§ 10 of our terms and conditions, the AGB).
Costs & quotations
Is your quotation binding?
Quotations are non-binding unless they are expressly marked as binding. A cost estimate is based on the information known when it was prepared — if additional work turns out to be needed during the job, it is charged separately (§ 2 of our terms and conditions, the AGB).
What happens if additional work becomes necessary during the job?
Work not included in the quotation is invoiced on the basis of actual time and materials or through a supplementary quotation. We agree this with you beforehand. Additional work ordered verbally is also chargeable (§ 8 of our terms and conditions, the AGB).
When is the invoice due?
Unless otherwise agreed, invoices are due immediately on issue, without deduction. For larger orders we may request reasonable interim payments according to the progress of the work. For consumers all prices include statutory VAT; for business customers statutory VAT is added (§ 4 of our terms and conditions, the AGB).
Can prices still change after the contract is concluded?
Only in one narrowly defined case: if more than four months pass between conclusion of the contract and execution of the work, and material, raw material, energy or purchase prices demonstrably rise by more than five per cent, we may adjust the prices accordingly. We will inform you of this in good time (§ 5 of our terms and conditions, the AGB).
Electrical installation
Do you also work on existing older installations?
Yes. Please note that hidden defects or deviations from current standards often only become visible during the work. If we find safety-relevant defects, we suspend the work until they have been remedied — any necessary upgrades are charged separately (§ 9 of our terms and conditions, the AGB).
Do you also carry out maintenance and repairs?
Yes. We maintain and repair existing electrical systems so that they work reliably, and we advise you on energy-saving solutions.
Smart Building
Can the charging station be integrated into the home control system?
Yes. The consumption control of a smart home system can actively integrate the charging station, reduce consumption when nobody is home, and dim or switch off the lighting.
Security systems
What does an alarm system do?
It deters intruders and automatically reports an attempted break-in to the police or a security service. Multifunctional systems also warn of fire, smoke and water. We work out a suitable security concept once you have contacted us.
Network technology
Which cable standards do you use for networks?
For structured cabling we use installation cables to the Cat.6A, Cat.6 and Cat.7 standards. For high bandwidths we use fibre-optic cable — single-mode (monomode) fibre.
Do I get a measurement report for my network?
Yes. We measure the data links we have installed and hand over the test report to you on completion. All components are also documented with data sheets.
Answers on quotations, invoicing and acceptance summarise our terms and conditions (AGB). The wording there is always what is binding.
